varg 90 Posted April 24, 2012 these crosses are really interesting! Do you think you'll try to make some "bonchi" (bonsai of a chili)? Don't know yet. But the idea is interesting!
Geez 282 Posted February 11, 2016 Continuation of history of two hybrids.I hope that it will be interesting. 2011 - 2012. varg crosspollinated some C.chinense plants.(details)The result are two mild hybrids :1. Rocobi F1 (C.chinense)(Rocotillo х Pimenta Biquinho de Bico)and2. Bipihab F1 (C.chinense)(Pimenta Biquinho de Bico х Pink Habanero) I liked these plants because they had good characteristics:- pleasant chinense flavor and low heat- high productivity- early maturing- small dimensions (h ≈ 60 cm)And therefore some years I try to stabilize these hybrids.Besides, it is very interesting process. So, now my report in detail...
Geez 282 Posted February 11, 2016 Rocobi F2 (C.chinense)(Rocotillo х Pimenta Biquinho de Bico)2013-2014. Six plants were planted. And, as expected, all plants had different characteristics. Some photos: Total photo:Taste and level of heat (1-2 : 10) of fruits were approximately identical. But the form and the sizes of fruits were different. And all plants F2 showed high productivity.Rocobi F2 #1 - 60 + many flowers and small podsRocobi F2 #2 - 90-100Rocobi F2 #3 - 110-120Rocobi F2 #4 - 110-120Rocobi F2 #5 - 110-120Rocobi F2 #6 - 70 + many flowers and small podsFor the following cultivation I chose type #3. This plant had the earliest maturing.2014-2015. Two plants were planted. And, as expected, both also had different characteristics..Rocobi F3 #3~1 (C.chinense).Fruits are larger than F2.At first the position of fruits is abnormal for C.chinense (erect pedicel). But, later the pedicel produced the normal (pendent) position.Rocobi F3 #3~2 (C.chinense).These fruits are more small than F2.In both cases productivity of plants was significantly lower than at F2.However reason could be mass flowering at heat peak.
Geez 282 Posted February 11, 2016 BiPiHab F2 (C.chinense)(Pimenta Biquinho de Bico х Pink Habanero)2013-2014. Four plants were planted.Parents were different colors and therefore hybrids F2 had different characteristics not only in a form and the sizes. Some photos: Home fruits more small, but are more juicy than outdoors: All plants F2 showed high productivity.BiPiHab F2 #1 (orange) - 280-300BiPiHab F2 #2 (red) - 130-150BiPiHab F2 #3 (grande) - 100-120BiPiHab F2 #4 (pink) - 120-130 2014-2015. For the following cultivation I chose all types. However, the main rate was made on BiPiHab F2 #4 (pink). I liked color. BiPiHab orange F3 didn't grow through my fault.BiPiHab red F3. Two plants produced pink (or peach) fruits. BiPiHab grande F3. Two plants. BiPiHab pink F3. Four plants. One plant produced red fruits. The others were pink and had differences on productivity. In 2016 I want to continue to cultivate BiPiHab pink F3 #3.So be continued...Thank you for your attention
Lonewolf 18,622 Posted February 11, 2016 Great documentation! Thank you for sharing. You and Varg should post here more often It shows well what happen in F2 hybrids, a lot of variability ...

Geez 282 Posted February 12, 2016 Thanks for your comments. I don't think that pink color is dominant. In this case BiPiHab F1 would be pink. But we see that in each next generation the number of pink crosses increases.
