ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 I was slow to get started this year and may run into issues with plant care due to other demands on my time. In the spirit of Capsicum addiction I’ve planted lots of seeds anyway 🤣 Good luck to everyone with their growing season and any projects you have 🙌
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 Summary of the year so far. Possible C.lanceolatum x C.rhomboideum plants that I germinated towards the end of last year suffered some set backs when I wasn’t available to look after them for a period. They are coming back from deaths door and at this point still not showing any obvious C.rhomboideum traits. I’m assuming they may be an accidental self until I can detect otherwise. Several cuttings indoors are happy. C.rabenii C.galapagoense
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 A C.lanceolatum cutting has been producing plenty of berries with little care.
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 Sorry, no Euros available for comparison 5
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 F2 seedlings emerging for one of my accidental crosses. Hawaiian Sweet Red (hot) x Antep Aci Dolma. I’m reasonably confident in the father due to proximity of plants and the F1 showing larger pod sizes and blossom end lobes, I’ll never know for sure of course. No Heat Primo seedlings. These come from someone elses discovery, a grower in the US called Mark Wilkerson. I believe the history was a 7 Pot Primo was grown that seemed to have no heat. It’s been grown out for a few more generations by some other people. The pods still have the characteristic tail but one apparent trait is the anthers are cream/yellow rather than blue/purple like most C.chinense.
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 The start of my Flexuosum Farm 👨🌾 These are all F1 plants made by taking pollen from flowers which had white pedicels or variegated pedicels on the highly variegated branch I discovered last year. I wasn’t able to get any berries or cuttings from that plant so pollen was the next best thing. I used many different pollen batches, so have many F1s. My plan is to gather lots of F2 seeds from these plants this year and then mass sow them to hunt for variegated seedlings. These plants also suffered from a period with no care but bouncing back now.
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted February 27 I have a small number of F2 seeds in germination for my C.rabenii x C.tovarii project. Nothing has emerged yet. I still have the F1 plants if I need more seeds. As of today, I also have what is hopefully an F1 for one of my domesticated C.baccatum hybrids x C.tovarii.

Looks to be going OK, always good to see strange interspecific crosses manage to form true leaves. They are on the way. No more seedlings have emerged yet from this batch of 10 seeds taken from the same source crossed pod.
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted March 9 Still growing well, now the long wait to see if it worked
WILDS 101 Posted March 12 This Flexuosum is something I will persist in planting and preserving for a long time, but C.tovarii is very difficult for me as it is difficult to sprout. The C.galapagoense chili pepper that I sowed on January 30, 2023 sprouted in January 2024, but only one of the two seedlings survived. I used to raise 3 to a height of 60 centimeters a few years ago, but it never bloomed or bears fruit. Chili peppers are really unique. I have planted Lanceolatum many times, but they all die when they don't grow up, which is really challenging for me. 2

ChilliCrosser 923 Posted March 23 Now I’m starting to get a little more excited on the potential domesticated baccatum with tovarii cross. Quite some time has passed and this is still the only seedling that’s emerged from the 10 seed batch. This makes it much less likely it’s an accidental self on those % for a domesticated baccatum. I’m also seeing signs of the early side shoots that C.tovarii loves to push out. Getting a similar feel to my seedlings for C.rabenii x C.tovarii last year. @L0rdn40 Potential F1 for C.baccatum var. pendulum x C.tovarii
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted April 9 After a long wait, first F2 seedling for my C.rabenii x C.tovarii cross. 59 days.
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted April 13 C.galapagoense cutting I took before the winter is doing ok An F1 from my C.rabenii x C.tovarii project is still flowering indoors Grabbed a quick C.rabenii picture from a small indoor breeding plant I have

ChilliCrosser 923 Posted April 27 An F2 I started last year, had some good results from the other F2s, this one has just started showing it’s result. From my C.rabenii x (Brazilian Starfish Yellow x Sugar Rush Stripey) project. Nice small, almost round, striped peach berry. Comparison of this pheno to one of the other F2s. The round pheno is crunchy, the other pheno has soft fruit from the C.rabenii parent. and a few more of the other pheno harvested

Are there differences flavour wise?

ChilliCrosser 923 Posted April 27 22 minutes ago, Laelia said: Are there differences flavour wise? All three of the striped selections I made from F2 have more of a C.rabenii taste than a regular C.baccatum taste. The main difference is a sharper immediate heat rather than the more gentle C.baccatum burn. The heat level varies between each of the three lines but not that much.
Laelia 4,733 Posted April 27 They're all truly gorgeous! I'm curious about the future flavour developments, heat aside. The fruit colour alone would make it a star in every garden
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted May 11 A few more harvested from those F2 plants, plus a few red C.rabenii berries My two F2’s for C.rabenii x C.tovarii are looking good at this point. Need to try starting a few more, though they are germinating about as well as C.tovarii 🤣 A young Fragilis 5
ChilliCrosser 923 Posted July 13 Not posted for a while so I need to rectify that! Various things from the last couple of months. Some F2 berries from a project C.rabenii x C.tovarii, last years F1 having another season C.lanceolatum and with visitors C.tovarii back for another year and it has a guardian
