Possible C.lanceolatum x C.rhomboideum plants that I germinated towards the end of last year suffered some set backs when I wasn’t available to look after them for a period. They are coming back from deaths door and at this point still not showing any obvious C.rhomboideum traits. I’m assuming they may be an accidental self until I can detect otherwise. ChilliCrosser 891 Posted February 27 F2 seedlings emerging for one of my accidental crosses. Hawaiian Sweet Red (hot) x Antep Aci Dolma. I’m reasonably confident in the father due to proximity of plants and the F1 showing larger pod sizes and blossom end lobes, I’ll never know for sure of course. No Heat Primo seedlings. These come from someone elses discovery, a grower in the US called Mark Wilkerson. I believe the history was a 7 Pot Primo was grown that seemed to have no heat. It’s been grown out for a few more generations by some other people. The pods still have the characteristic tail but one apparent trait is the anthers are cream/yellow rather than blue/purple like most C.chinense. 6 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ChilliCrosser 891 Posted February 27 The start of my Flexuosum Farm 👨🌾 These are all F1 plants made by taking pollen from flowers which had white pedicels or variegated pedicels on the highly variegated branch I discovered last year. I wasn’t able to get any berries or cuttings from that plant so pollen was the next best thing. I used many different pollen batches, so have many F1s. My plan is to gather lots of F2 seeds from these plants this year and then mass sow them to hunt for variegated seedlings. Looks to be going OK, always good to see strange interspecific crosses manage to form true leaves. They are on the way. WILDS 99 Posted March 12 This Flexuosum is something I will persist in planting and preserving for a long time, but C.tovarii is very difficult for me as it is difficult to sprout. The C.galapagoense chili pepper that I sowed on January 30, 2023 sprouted in January 2024, but only one of the two seedlings survived. I used to raise 3 to a height of 60 centimeters a few years ago, but it never bloomed or bears fruit. Chili peppers are really unique. Quite some time has passed and this is still the only seedling that’s emerged from the 10 seed batch. This makes it much less likely it’s an accidental self on those % for a domesticated baccatum. I’m also seeing signs of the early side shoots that C.tovarii loves to push out. From my C.rabenii x (Brazilian Starfish Yellow x Sugar Rush Stripey) project. Nice small, almost round, striped peach berry. Comparison of this pheno to one of the other F2s. All three of the striped selections I made from F2 have more of a C.rabenii taste than a regular C.baccatum taste. The main difference is a sharper immediate heat rather than the more gentle C.baccatum burn.
