Oban 9,508 Posted June 24, 2018 Hi Chris, beautifull flowers. Do you have some pics of the plant Rocoto Arequipa Giant X C.cardenasii? I saw this picture of a cross, was it done by you? Do you have some pics of the flower?

All varieties starting with CMPCR### are my own personal crosses I have made. It's my 'coding' to keep track of projects. Not all 'attempts' were successful with germination over the years. From this image of the fruits without a calix, it would seem so and the size of the fruit is also quite small, how many inces approximately? Cumari Alongado and Cumari Flibu are among my absolute favorites, fabulous flowers.
cmpman1974 504 Posted July 21, 2018 Yes, they are soft fruits that fall right off the calyx. I would estimate the size to be 5-10x the size of a normal USDA cardenasii pod (those are quite small). Unfortunately, I'm not growing the true cardenasii this season to provide a pod size reference. I'll measure one of these pods soon. Chris

cmpman1974 504 Posted July 27, 2018 The ruler has returned in my photos. I like it too much as it provides a real-life scale for what I'm growing and comparisons year after year. This red version below is an off pheno I'm not focusing on. I'm working on a yellow strain that points up that ripens deep purple to yellow with dark foliage.
