meatfreak 501 Posted September 8, 2014 Last tomato harvest of the season. So the fruit of my labor, 29 jars of basic tomato sauce. And 26 jars of salsa, mostly mild but did make 6 hot ones by using the BOC pods. Still haven't processed everything but will make some more basic sauce tomorrow. Got more then enough salsa to last till next season Went to water the peppers tonight and took some pictures. Lot's of ripening action going on since we've had a good sunny week, hope this weather last the entire month and October if I get to pick :P Nagabrain Chocolate F-2, branches are so heavily loaded that they are reaching for the ground. Jwala. These make a great Sambal, great flavor and heat with an fruity aftertaste?! Jataka F-1 Seems like all the pods are ripening at once, this is just 1 plant and you can't even see all the pods that are on it. Also one I will use when making Sambal. Thai Demon, just one of it's branches. Orange Thai, pods aren't erected and a lot bigger then the Demon variety. Pimenta Lisa, correct phenotype. Pimenta Lisa, green plant, peach pods. Green Hornet F-2 Morado 7 Pot White, reflection made them yellow Devil's Tongue Chocolate, third phenotype. All 3 plants have pods with different shapes. Rapace 9,668 Posted September 20, 2014 Great ! Congrats Stefan I noticed the very peculiar colour transition of Pimenta Lisa (and also of other Pimenta Da Neyde Hybrids). I have your Pimenta Lisa (colour transition is exactly as you described a "couple of posts ago") and also a Pimenta Pink Tiger (shape is different, while colour transition is the same). Both hybrids have the same "ancestors" (maybe original mother and father are switched but I'm not sure).... Pimenta Da Neyde and Bhut Jolokia. If we speak about the colour it seems that the colour affects the initial colour of the pods and then (nearly) disappears. No sign of the red colour coming from Bhut Jolokia........ It should be very interesting to study this behaviour from genetic point of view. Moreover, Pimenta Da Neyde Hybrids are usually very unstable..... but this behaviour seems to be (according to what I saw) "common" (not to say "stable"). 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Glad you like the Pimenta Lisa, it was the color transition that had my interest last season. That's why I decided to grow it out. I also grew the Pink Tiger, mine didn't grew true and went peach. The transition of that one was partly the same. Did yours ended up almost white with purple? The pods are crunchy like the PDN and thinwalled. You can keep them a lot longer then other Chinense after harvest. You probaly saw I also got an completely green plant with the peach colored pods. Its loaded up again and the pods that are going overripe tend to go to the same color as the dark phenotype. The peach almost disappears and gets more towards white. Very interesting, I will take some pics once I harvest them. The desired phenotype itself didn't show up at a lot of growers, like you said, the PDN crosses tend to be very unstable. However I managed to get the correct one and so did 1 other grower. Have more then enough seeds of it as it's very prolific. Roberto To me the 7 Pot Lava taste the same as an Yellow Moruga, Roberto. So excellent taste and just as hot Yeah the yield of my Jalapeno's is almost just as good as last season and I only have an third of the amount of plants I had last season. Both have dark leaves and branches and the same color transition you mentioned as correct. One of them has also pods very similar to the "correct" ones (I posted a picture of them in my topic, maybe you already saw it). The other plant has completely different pod shape (not similar at all to the ancestors). Pod shape is almost Scorpion-Like (or Bishop Crown-Like). No tail. I currently haven't any picture of this second plant but I'll post one ot that on next weekend probably. About my Pimenta Pink Tiger...... transition is the same and it ends "ivory" (maybe very very slightly peachy - depending on lights also) with few purple spots. The Green Hornet showed up last year at my friends grow, should have been an Jay's Scorpion Peach but clearly wasn't. Nagabrain is a color mutation from the Nagabrain Red F-2. The Evergreen is an creation from Judy, pepperlover. Got 2 plants growing true and one plant with the X in the end which has crossed with an unknown. The yield of that 1 plant is enormous, almost 3kg from 1 single Chinense plant has been my best result ever. meatfreak 501 Posted September 29, 2014 The Green Hornet I seeded tonight, it had a really really strong Bhut aroma. Even stronger then the Bhut Mustard I grew last year, taste is similar and it's not as hot as the bhut Mustard but superhot nonetheless! The Evergreen are a bit hotter then a regular Habanero, it's very spicy like an Mustard or Chocolate Habanero. Haven't tried the Nagabrain yet... but I'm guessing it's also very spicy. I'm growing the Yellow variety, had an color mutation at one of my plants, green variety. meatfreak 501 Posted October 1, 2014 Face is burning up after seeding those Nagabrains, smoking hot for sure Plants are still kicking out new pods but after this week the temps will get lower and go back to normal for this time of year. I hope I can keep my plants as long as possible in the poly since it's a lot of work to process all those harvests.
