Aji Verde means green chile pepper. Like Aji amarillo there are several Aji Verde´s. The one I did grow matured in orange. It reminded me very much of the Aji Amarillo i did grow last year or the Aji Amarillo that Orto Novo grows. I understad that Aji Amarillo sometimes is called Aji verde when used as green in South America.

A not so good picture of the prolific Aji Rocotillo. The taste was typical chinense. Very little heat but noticeable. It will be nice to try this one in sallads.
This year I am growing some seeds from sundried Aji Panca. You can buy these in some shops as you can buy Aji Amarillo, Ancho, Pasilla, Facing Heaven, Chilhuacle Negro (i grow this one too), Guajillo, New Mexico, Cascabell. From what I have read Aji Panca is a Capsicum chinense. But now I know there is also a Capsicum baccatum version. The first flower from the plant.

Two nice baccatums, Aji Norteno and Inca Red Drop(background).

Misqucho Colorado PI 152225, this capsicum chinense have a pubescens like fuzz on the stems.
It looks very nice when mature, once again I got the seeds from John. Here is one of his pictures. PI 152225.

Today, it was a rainy day, Ida and Hot Pepper Lantern was out on the balcony for some photos. It did not went as good as I hoped. Ida loved to hold the pods, but she hold them so hard that the pods was almost crushed. I had to wash her hand carefully after this meeting...I wonder how it will work when I put the plants on the balcony more permanently.
Harvest after the Ida photos. 35 pods.
Hot Pepper Lantern from green to red;)
My Annuums and baccatums germinated very vell this year. But I cant say the same for the chinense. Only about 1/3 of the seeds germinated. So I started to germinate some more seeds of the most wanted.
From 28/1 -31/1 i started to grow more seeds of these:
Trinidad Scorpion (already staring to germinate)
Cherio Recife
Aji Panca (already staring to germinate)
Jalapeno Olé
Shiny red (bad seeds I belive)
Giant White Habanero
This weekend I also started germinate, just for fun, some Hot Lemon seeds from the freezer - does it work? will it work?
On the 3/2 I planted some seeds of the white bacctum Blondie. It will be intressting to follow this one as bacctums with matured white pods seems to be very rare. Is it a realy bacctum? Will it stay white even as matured and overmatured? ...time will tell.
9/1 2007
I planted all chinense, pubescens, frutescens and some other peppers for 2008 season
16/1 2007
I planted the rest (annuum and baccatum) of the peppers of 2008

It really hard being a chilehead. I am already growing more than I can handle. And then I get these peppers, I want to grow them now!!! A big thanks to Sara. I wonder how these super hots can come in so many colors.
A comparison of pods: Aji Habanero (over) & Criolla Sella (under). Both belongs to capsicum baccatum.
Aji Habanero comes from Mexico. Criolla Sella comes from Bolivia. Both pods have some heat especially if you eat the hole pod (some of the Aji Habanero pods were milder). If you remove the innewalls you can eat them fresh without any "pain". Both plants seems to be very prolific. My harvet was somewhat modest because of the cold august/september. Criolla Sella pods dries very fast on the plant. The Aji Habanero did not dry that well on the plant as you can see on the picture.
Criolla Sella has a typical baccatum taste. Aji Habanero has also a baccatum taste but not that obvious as the Criolla Sella.
Inspired by Mats I planted the second time early this year. The varieties were in turn Bhuta Jolokia, Inca Red Drop, Locato PI387838, Pimenta Barra Do Ribeiro, Tabasco Greenleaf, Pimenta Da Neyde and 7 Pod. The plants were rooted through the fine, so it was a good time to give them bigger pots. I added a little chicken manure, which gives an extra kick with nitrogen. As you can see I filled in with considerably with soil because the soil tends to sick together when watering. The ancient pots hold approximately 0.6 l - the new 1.5 l (2.5 l for the Bhut Jolokia).
This year I am growing loads of peppers. But many of the seeds are old - so some wont grow. Some of the wild ones has the wrong species I belive.

Shiny Red. Last year I traded seeds with the Botanical garden of Stockholm. I got seeds from this great capsicum chinense and I gave away seeds from the...
Locato. I just love this capsicum pubescens. But as my pubescens they are very late this year up here in Stockholm. But it had some pods...
...still green though.
Flower of Locato
Every year when Orto Novo are ready to clean thier 1000m2 "pepper"greenhouse they let the Swedish Pepper society (Svenska Chilepeppar föreningen) harvest the last of the peppers. This year the plants was somewhat affeted by fungus, but still there where plenty of very nice peppers to pick. About 70 people attended this event. Orto Novos greenhouses are situated close to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Afterwards we hade coffe and very tasty applepie spiced with Ancho chile.
Our harvest. Peppers include: Rocoto (Red, Orange and yellow), Aji Amarillo ((Aji Amarillo mirasol - I belive)), Hot Lemon, Trinidad Seasoning, Habanero, Serrano, jalapeno, Yellow Cayenne (not in the picture) , Yellow Bumpy, Sivri Biber, Jamacian Bell.
A big Thanks to Orto Novo and SCF for this very nice event
Some pictures from last year (sorry did not take that many photos this year)
(sorry for my english - written in a hurry)
The first day in February gave me a nice suprice - the first flower of the (2 year plant) Brown Rocoto. It almost feels like spring, even though its still snow outside.
Many of the peppers have now germinated, but I am still wainting for a few to pop up.
